Upper School Theater Teacher Megan Hollinger took a small but mighty team from AFS to the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival’s annual high school competition. The festival, held at DeSales University, invites students from public, charter and independent schools in the tri-state area to share scenes and monologues from Shakespeare’s plays. The students also participate in theater workshops ranging from stage combat to improvisation to text analysis.
Of the 57 pieces presented in the competition, only 12 were chosen for performance in the festival’s final showcase. Among them was a scene by Lindsay Smelcer ’16 and Saria Rosenhaj ’17, seen here performing a scene from The Bard’s “Twelfth Night” on the set of DeSales’s current production, “Elektra.”
