Today was a magnificent expression of community and spirit at AFS, a gathering of over 600 people here to witness to our commitments to justice, peace, inclusion and activism. The quiet but powerful energy on campus today is absolutely inspiring and a beautiful manifestation of the fruitfulness of the life of the spirit in our Quaker community.
Many, many thanks for the inspired work of the MLK Day Committee: Jeanne Calloway, Paula Cohen, Kiryna Cotroneo, Kelly Donohue, Emily Fishman, Diana Gru, Ruth Joray (A Step Up Academy), Kathy Lopez, Cris Maxwell, Rosanne Mistretta, Amy Newman, Suzanne Pitcairn, Michelle Podulka Regina Rausch, Pete Thobaben, Danielle Thomas and Toni Williamson for their imagination for this day, excellency planning and beautiful execution.
And please join me in deep gratitude to and admiration for Andrea Emmons for her vision, leadership and guiding spirit for months and months in preparation and so clearly on this day itself.
I am grateful beyond words for the beauty of this community, its values and its people. Let the light of today encourage us forward for all the good work ahead and much needed in our larger world.
