Hipster Henry, which bills itself as “The Parent’s Guide to Philadelphia,” is a web site where parents can find lists of family-friendly activities, places to visit with kids and even good children’s birthday party venues. It’s also a site where parents can go to get the skinny on public and independent schools in the region, by reading comments written by other parents.
The results of 2017-2018 survey of local schools recently were posted on the site, and AFS has received a report card that would make any parent proud. Here are some of the responses AFS parents wrote in describing their children’s experience at the School:
“AFS fosters so much confidence, creativity and curiosity in my children that I couldn’t imagine a more meaningful environment.”
“AFS has an inviting atmosphere and a commitment not only to academic excellence, but also to community and diversity.”
“AFS is the most Quaker feeling of all the Quaker schools. The leadership really embraces the values of Quakerism and tries to impart that to students. The arts there are marvelous, especially theatre. My child LOVES math, thanks to the incredible math teachers there.”
The survey asks how each school could improve. Our parents responded: Add more parking, continue to diversify the faculty and improve athleticS facilities. (Editor’s Note: AFS is actively engaged in the quiet phase of a fundraising campaign to build a beautiful new athletics center on campus.)
