The AFS MedEx group-learning program, part of the Center for Experiential Learning, has welcomed its fourth cohort of Upper School students, who are beginning a year of study alongside doctors and medical professionals who will discuss the rewards and challenges of working in the medical field. The BizEx cohort, which is designed for students to learn about entrepreneurship and business through hands-on experience, has also been decided for the year ahead.

Rosanne Mistretta, Director of the Center for Experiential Learning, said “The groups already have packed schedules for the spring semester. MedEx has a field trip planned in February to the Mutter Museum with College of Physicians Fellow Marla Gold and will be doing a historical medical walking tour of Philadelphia later in the semester with Beyond the Bell Tours, a tour company created by Rebecca Fisher ’13. BizEx has many entrepreneurs coming in to speak this semester and a field trip planned to the headquarters of Urban Outfitters with creative director Sue Otto.
MedEx mentors are doctors and medical professionals who spend time with the student group leading them in hands-on experiences exploring medicine.
