Arts facilities and spaces

AFS has a long tradition of award-winning theatre, music and visual arts. We celebrate student work with fully produced theatre production, concerts, art displays and and formal exhibitions. AFS is home to several specially designed spaces for the arts, including:

A Lower School music room designed for music and movement education that features a full ensemble of Orff and percussion instruments, a SMART-board, 88-key weighted digital piano/music workstation, a hardwood classroom floor and beautiful panoramic views of the AFS campus.

The Josephine Muller Auditorium, a fully equipped performance facility that seats more than 400 and allows students to create and perform in a professional setting. Students who choose to work behind the scenes get first-hand experience working with professional lighting and sound equipment. The facility includes a tech booth and lighting catwalks, a large backstage area, dressing rooms, a prop/costume shop and green room, a sound system with mixing console and a suspended microphone system with surround speakers.

A black box studio theater for smaller performances and theatre classes.

Several light and airy exhibition spaces for all-school student art shows and displays throughout the year.

Four well-lit and equipped studio art rooms with SMART-boards and overhead data projectors and a total of five kilns.

A ceramics studio with multiple potter’s wheels.

Photography classroom equipped with Apple computer technology and a dark room/lab with 13 enlarging stations.

An electronic music studio outfitted with both Apple and Roland hard disc recording technology and five iMAC/ProTools recording software/hardware stations.
