Upper School Athletics

At AFS athletics are an integral part of our educational program. As in the classroom, students are offered a range of developmentally appropriate experiences through which they become physically active and develop self-confidence, commitment to others and individual leadership skills fundamental to their long-term development. The AFS Athletics program is comprised of both interscholastic and instructional athletics options, which are offered seasonally throughout the academic year mostly during afternoons after the completion of the academic day.

Personal Fitness

(Fall, Winter, Spring seasons) – AFS’s Personal Fitness program provides an alternative for every student, no matter his or her prior athletic tendencies, to learn critical life skills in the areas of fitness and nutrition.

Professionally certified trainers and educators run the AFS Personal Fitness program, providing students exposure to the basic principles and techniques that form the foundation of a healthy lifestyle.

Daily AFS Personal Fitness program activities include: yoga, strength training, ultimate Frisbee, aerobics, spinning and hip-hop dance.

AFS offers 8-10 weeks of Personal Fitness sessions concurrent to each athletic season. Personal Fitness meets each day after school from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Students must successfully complete 25 sessions during one season to receive athletic credit.
