Erin Bengtson
Biography
Erin Bengtson is an Upper School Math teacher at Abington Friends and the Mathematics Department Chair for 5th-12th grade. She’s been at AFS since 2008.
For the past 10 years (9 as head coach) she’s been involved with the AFS Varsity Cross-Country team as well as coaching both indoor and outdoor track & field.
Erin was a 4-year varsity cross-country and track athlete at Marcus (Texas) High School and helped her team twice win the cross-country state championship. She also was a 4-year varsity cross-country and track athlete at St. Olaf College, where she earned her B.A. in Mathematics and French.
Why Erin coaches at AFS: “In both the classroom and athletics arena I love to help students learn to challenge themselves, to grow towards their full potential and to embody what it means to be a significant member of a team. I am grateful for the close relationships I’ve developed with so many young people at AFS as I’ve worked with them to become stronger students and athletes.”
