Students at AFS develop and grow in an environment where they are known well by many adults. This highly personalized approach to education carries through to the college application process. Our two full time counselors work closely with students to fully understand their talents, abilities and interests and to help them find the college or university where they are most likely to thrive.
Since our College Guidance Counselors are also Directors of Studies in Upper School, they work with students throughout their high school experience helping them shape their curriculum choices to match their academic goals. They are intimately familiar with the path each individual takes through AFS. By identifying trends in course selection, rigor and grades, they can help students make beneficial choices when it comes to seeking academic challenge in high school, as well as accurately assessing academic fit in college.
Partnering closely with our students and their families during what can be a stressful time makes the process more manageable and more enjoyable, and leads to outstanding outcomes for our students. Many of our graduates go on to study at highly selective colleges and universities. We measure our success, however, by how many find and are accepted by their top choice school where they will most flourish.
