One fine fall Saturday, AFS community members gathered behind the Lower School to help the Tookany/TaconyFrankford Watershed Partnership plant over 300 trees and shrubs to create a new riparian buffer for our creek, which forms the headwaters of Jenkintown Creek.
Many of our students had already played their part the day before, when Lower School faculty created music, art and science connections to the planting work with a catchy Riparian Buffer song and observational drawing lessons.
Neighborhood partnerships like this one extend our reach beyond the campus and provide rich hands-on learning opportunities for our students.
