Twice next week, Upper School Theatre Teacher Megan Bellwoar Hollinger will be talking about how Shakespeare can be made accessible to children, during a live television interview on Friday, March 31, and at the Arden Theatre Co. on Saturday, April 1.
At the Arden, Megan will be moderating a panel discussion following the theatre’s 2 p.m. performance of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Two AFS juniors, Drew Jacobson and Michael Carpenter, will be among the students on the panel. They’ll be discussing their experiences with Shakespeare and how to “crack the code” of the Bard’s language to connect his timeless characters to today’s world.
The panel discussion will begin about 4:30 p.m., after the matinee show concludes.
In addition to moderating the panel, Megan will be appearing in a live interview at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, March 31, on NBC Channel 10. Megan is a long-time member of the Philadelphia professional theatre community in addition to her role as an educator at AFS.
