This year’s kindergarteners are a very musical group of students — they love to sing and dance — and it turns out they are a great audience, too.
On a recent Friday, students in both kindergarten classes sat in a circle on a classroom rug and joyfully sang along as Kindergarten Teacher Raji Malik and Head of School Rich Nourie played music on their guitars. The set list included “She’ll Be Coming ’Round the Mountain,” “You Gotta Sing” (when the spirit says sing), “I’ve Got Peace Like a River,” and, of course, “This Little Light of Mine.”
Rich and Raji ended the mini-concert with a song Rich wrote for his wife, Robin, entitled “Me, Looking at You.” Rich says, “The kids love it because it’s a happy, lively tune and Raji plays beautifully on it as well.” Rich includes the song when he performs with his band, The Saturdays, a talented group that also includes Dave Arms P’19.
As for the kindergarten sing-along, it was such a hit that Raji and Rich will be doing this again from time to time. Save us a seat on the rug!
