Diversity at AFS is one of our deepest strengths and in the classroom our faculty are constantly hard at work lifting up every student. They're committed to helping each child develop into their full selves, and have a positive sense of their identities. In the Lower School, one of the many ways they cultivate this concept is in Spanish class, with a project where they create an autorretrato (self-portrait).

The MedEx Program Lays Groundwork for Students to Excel

The Medical Experience, known as MedEx, at Abington Friends School was fueled by the student desire to learn more at greater depths. Three years ago, the program was created with the goal of exemplifying the immersive and experiential learning experiences offered by this leading Friends School, while maintaining a strong tie to the mission and value of a Quaker education.

The results are in and the AFS BizEx 2018 team is moving on to the Diamond Challenge pitch event. The Diamond Challenge was created through Horn Entrepreneurship, a cornerstone for entrepreneurial activity based at the University of Delaware. The students who will be making the pitch for the AFS team in the Diamond Challenge are Cole Lewis, Yolanda Du, Seth Pokrifka. Chris Liang and Josh Eisen were also on the 2018 BizEx team.

AFS welcomed exchange students Claudia Balmforth, Riley Curtain, Ella Jensen, and Zoe Walker to AFS on January 22, where they began taking classes with our Upper School students. The students, who are all rising sophomores, attend the Friends' School in Hobart, Tasmania.
